Ball Lock, but safe!
The quick-change system "Ball Lock" improved again to avoid errors and costly repairs and downtime.
Ball Lock, is widely known and established.
The system not only brings the advantage of quick change of a punch under the press, but also protects the pin holes in the cast or steel structure in the die and allows the use of punches whose cutting edge is larger than the shank.
However, there are still doubts about the system that we at Micronorm & Moeller Precision take very seriously, which is why we have
have developed the "True Lock System" to ensure 100% security against incorrect mounting.
The implementation is simple but the effect is huge.
The polygonal retainer is extended with a 5mm pin on the opposite side of the ball seat. A small part of the pin diameter protrudes into the hole of the punch seat.
The pin is manufactured with an interference fit and is shrunk in place, making it non-detachable and fail-safe.
The punch is made with a fine groove and cannot be mechanically installed incorrectly. In the event that the punch is ever not pressed into the seat 100% in depth, the sheet metal does the work and presses the punch into the correct position at first contact and the ball engages.
The punch is made with a fine groove and can no longer be installed mechanically incorrectly. In the event that the punch is ever not pressed 100% in depth into the seat, the sheet metal takes over the work and presses the punch at the first contact in the correct position and the ball engages.
Neither the pin nor the groove interfere with the functions of the system.
