New and modern production possibilities in steel and metal construction.
Dragon pipe and profile plasma cutting system
For years, 3D CAD systems have been used by many steel and metal construction companies. With the help of these programs, it is possible to represent any component as a 3D model and then use it as the basis for manufacturing. Until now, manufacturing was only possible on relatively expensive tube laser systems or large plasma systems. Sommer Maschinenbau GmbH now supplies tube and profile plasma cutting systems, which also pay off for smaller metal construction companies.
Already created step files can be imported by the included CAM software. The software then nests all components and generates a CNC code, which is then transferred to the plasma system controlling the cutting process. In some cases, it is even possible to import entire assemblies and nest them automatically. Production times are significantly reduced compared to conventional sawing, drilling and milling. Depending on the plasma source used, the cutting quality might not be comparable with a laser, but is more than adequate for many steel processing applications. All machines can be equipped with simple air plasma sources or high–quality multi–gas plasma systems. Other options, such as water cooling and support systems, further improve handling and cut quality.
